The story of how we became committed to veterans' vacation is an interesting one. It all started when Disabled Veterans Recreation, Inc. was organized in 1982 for the explicit purpose of working on a program to create a recreational facility for disabled veterans to vacation. The idea for a non-profit facility to specifically serve the special needs of disabled veterans, their families, and friends came about in 1982. A group of northeastern Minnesota citizens met and organized Disabled Veterans Recreation, Inc. So here we are today, funded by you for your veterans vacations. In conjunction with the US Forest Service and the provisions of the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness Act of 1978, we provide lodging inside the Superior National Forest area.
